How the wealthy spend their weekends
You couldn’t buy bricks and mortar with the location, amenities and a view like this.
Bob Ross from Altrincham, Cheshire, spent his childhood holidays in Abersoch North Wales from the age of 5.
Now In his forties and a successful Manchester property developer, Bob takes his two children, Ellie, 16, Oliver, 14 and his wife Carolyn to their beautiful beach front holiday home on Haulfryn’s exclusive “The Warren” at Abersoch most weekends and school holidays.
“You couldn’t buy bricks and mortar with the location, amenities and a view like this, right on the beach, where I can launch my boat whenever I like and sip a beer as the sun goes down with a panoramic view of Abersoch Bay.”
“We’re here most school holidays and my wife and children come down for 6 weeks in the summer. The children have lots of friends down here, their own boat, as well as access to the swimming pool, tennis courts and the gym. It’s a perfect playground for them.”
Bob told us that during the last summer holidays he took his laptop and mobile with him to The Warren and only went back to the Manchester property developing company, Merepark plc’s, offices for a few specific meetings
“So why not bricks and mortar – or abroad,” I ask?
“We take holidays abroad of course to the Mediterranean and further afield. However what we have bought into here is a family holiday base for these important years as the children grow up, providing a great leisure lifestyle for the children, my wife and myself.
The holiday park is a safe, controlled environment. We look after our own holiday home, but we don’t have to worry about anything else because it’s taken care of by The Warren staff. We know our speed boat and launch tractor are safe and we are free to come and go as we please.
I can launch my boat anytime, whether it’s 6 in the morning or later at night and I don’t have to be involved in anything if I don’t want to be – we can be as sociable or private as we want.
The children have many friends and so much to do – they are so free here - and in fact we do most of our socialising at The Warren, as it’s so much more relaxing here.”
As a property developer Bob explained that Haulfryn’s holiday homes are similar in design, layout and facilities to the apartments his company builds in central Manchester.
“Here it’s simple but perfect - you just add plates, pots and pans and clothes – and you’re there, it’s so simple, but provides the perfect holiday. At work I constantly have to make decisions, here I make none. It’s perfect.”
