Get your place in the sun and your English home with no maintenance worries
It’s a lovely place to entertain our families and four grandchildren.
When Bob and Margaret Foggon were thinking about retirement they, like many people, wanted a place in the sun and a house in England. The problem was how to afford it. They bought a £140,000 property near Malaga. This is a three bedroom apartment in a village in the mountains which has communal gardens and grounds which is looked after when they are not there. They spend 3-4 months of the year here.
For their property in the UK they chose a holiday lodge at Edgeley, a holiday park set deep in the Surrey countryside just south of Guildford. Close to the delightful village of Shere, but less than an hour from London and within easy reach of Gatwick for flights to Spain, Bob and Margaret are delighted with the location of their new holiday home.
The park offers all they need – from a swim or sauna and there is a friendly atmosphere as they wander around the park grounds chatting to other lodge owners. Bob, 75, and Margaret, 62, love walking in the countryside nearby and enjoy visiting the many pubs and restaurants around the area. It’s a lovely place to entertain their families and four grandchildren.
Bob, a retired Fire and Safety Officer, and Margaret, a former sales and marketing manager for an electronics company, originally met in Epsom, where Margaret comes from. Although they were living in Leicestershire, they have owned a caravan in Edgeley since 1995. It was therefore a logical step to sell the caravan and buy a lodge.
The Haulfryn Group, a family owned company, acquired Edgeley Holiday Park two years ago and have made significant improvements, with the latest being an all weather tennis court which opened over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
